Casey Kasem Is In Montreal?

DJ Casey Kasem’s June death has been shrouded in mystery and questions since it happened, and now the plot has thickened – his remains have gone missing and an American funeral home director is claiming to have sent them to a funeral home in Montreal.

Corey Gaffney, the president of the funeral home initially responsible for the radio personality, said he personally ensured the radio host’s body was put on a flight to Montreal last Monday, although the Montreal funeral home said they have no record of Kasem’s remains being in their facility (Reuters).

Leading up to this, Kasem’s daughter Kerri had gotten a temporary restraining order against his second wife, Jean, to prevent her from cremating her father’s body, but when her lawyer went to the funeral home in Tacoma to deliver the document, he was informed that the body was no longer there and had been sent to Montreal.

According to The Canadian Press, Kerri Kasem, one of three children from Kasem’s first marriage, also asked a judge last week for authorization to seek an autopsy on her father as well as a temporary restraining order to ensure his body was held in cold storage and not cremated until that autopsy is completed. Judge Ronald Culpepper ordered Jean Kasem to ensure that the radio host’s remains were preserved and that his body stayed at the Tacoma funeral home until the court decided on the autopsy petition following a July 25 hearing.

Casey Kasem was 82 years old.
