PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Xbox One Release Confirmed at E3 2017

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is set to make its way to Xbox One later this year, bringing one of the PC’s most popular games to Microsoft’s console.

The online competitive third-person shooter will launch exclusively on the Xbox One and Xbox One X, bringing its Battle Royale-esque action to Microsoft’s console. Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene personally debuted the game, taking to the stage during Microsoft’s E3 2017 presentation to announce that it would be making its way from Steam and onto the console.

The announcement was met with loud applause from the assembled crowd, with it having attracted a wide audience on PC, sprouting up seemingly from out of nowhere to become one of Twitch’s most streamed games behind the likes of League of Legends and Overwatch. There’s no word yet on whether or not this is a timed exclusivity deal or whether PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will remain an Xbox One and Xbox One X exclusive, but either way this is a huge boon for Microsoft.

Elsewhere, Microsoft used its E3 2017 presentation to officially debut the Xbox One X, which the company is calling the “most powerful console ever.” Measuring in smaller than both the original Xbox One and Xbox One X, Microsoft is clearly attempted to close the gap between PCs and home consoles with its high-powered new system. Courting creative and prominent PC developers such as Brendan Greene is certainly a good way to achieve this.

It wasn’t revealed when PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will launch on Xbox One, though Greene stated that it would be made available for the console later this year. You can watch the debut trailer for the game below:
