Game of Thrones | First Look At The Dance of The Dragons

In Game of Thrones, only three dragons are alive during the timeframe of the series. But there was once a time when dragons were numerous. We may never see those stories in Game of Thrones, but the upcoming fifth season Blu-ray set will offer a tantalizing glimpse of the past to fans of the series.

IGN has debuted a clip from The Dance of The Dragons, a 20 minute animated featurette that will be included on the Blu-ray. The Dance of The Dragons was written by Game of Thrones scribe Dave Hill; and the short was conceived and produced by Adam Vadnais of Lindeman & Associates.

The animated scene below features former Game of Thrones cast member Pedro Pascal narrating a pivotal clash from the Targaryen civil war. In the clip, Prince Aemond rides his dragon Vhagar to Harrenhal and finds his uncle, Prince Daemon waiting for him with his dragon, Caraxes. And unlike Aemond, Daemon is ready for a battle to the death.

“When HBO and Adam Vadnais broached the idea of adapting The Dance of Dragons for the Blu-ray special features, I was thrilled,” said Hill in a brief statement to IGN. “I loved the story as George had written it and felt honored to help bring an animated version to the fans. Every year I try to keep the scripts worthy of the incredible work that I know to expect from Adam and his team. This year, more so than ever, they’ve set the bar astronomically high with the Dance of Dragons featurette. Winter will eventually come, but not the day that Adam and his team fail to amaze me.”

You will have to wait a while to see the conclusion of this scene. Game of Thrones Season 5 will be released on Blu-ray on March 15, 2016. The sixth season of Game of Thrones is slated to begin in April 2016.
