Alt-J Announce October Australian Tour

Can’t wait to catch Alt-J in action at Falls Festival later this year? Don’t fret, the UK indie rock trio are heading Down Under for a couple of cheeky October shows.

The band appeared on triple j radio to make the surprise announcement on Thursday, declaring two dates in Sydney and Melbourne in support of their upcoming second album, This Is All Yours, set for release on September 19.

In their first return to Australian shores since last year’s Splendour In The Grass, the boys from Leeds will visit Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on October 6 before hitting The Enmore in Sydney on the 7th. They’ll then head back to help Australia bring in the New Year with appearances at both the Falls and Southbound festivals.

“It’s very exciting, keyboardist Gus Unger-Hamilton told triple j’s The Doctor. “We’re coming over in October to do some smaller shows. I mean, they’re large places to play. The 6th of October is Joe (Newman, guitar/vox)’s birthday so hopefully we’ll have some time to celebrate in Melbourne.”

The Alt-J shows will be supported by Perth’s GRACE, who has spent parts of this year working with American producer Sam Spiegel after collaborations with Ben Lee, Maroon 5 and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
