Marvel Launches All Female Avengers Comic

Near the beginning of Marvel NOW!, an all female team of X-Men headlined their own comic book series. Now it’s The Avengers’ turn to get a lineup made entirely of women.

According to Mashable, Marvel is launching A-Force, a new series co-written by G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite Bennett with artist Jorge Molina that features a new Avengers team consisting of She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru and a new cosmic powered heroine called Singularity. Other characters will also be on the team, but Marvel didn’t confirm any others in the announcement.

The very Alan Davis-esque A-Force cover by Jim Cheung features the team surrounded by several of Marvel’s top heroines, including recent additions like Spider-Gwen and Rescue. Other Marvel heroines including Rogue, Phoenix, Wasp, Aurora and Dazzler appear to be in their iconic classic costumes. Whether the extra heroines will actually appear in the book remains to be seeon.

“We’ve purposefully assembled a team composed of very different characters — from disparate parts of the Marvel U, with very different power sets, identities and ideologies,” explained Wilson. “They’ll all have to come together to answer some big questions: What would you sacrifice to succeed? What is being a hero worth?”

A-Force # 1 will debut in May as part of the linewide Secret Wars event.
