Patrick Fugit Will Star In Cinemax’s ‘Outcast’

Last year, “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman managed to sell his new comic book series, Outcast as a TV series before it had even been published. Image Comics finally released the Outcast comic earlier this year and now Cinemax has cast the lead character.

Deadline is reporting that Patrick Fugit has been signed to play Kyle Barnes in the Cinemax adaptation of “Outcast.” Within the series, Barnes is a young man who has been haunted by actual demons throughout his life. But Barnes’ search for answers only leads to a secret “ that could end all life on Earth as we know it.”

Fugit is best known for starring in Almost Famous, but he has also appeared in White Oleander, Horsemen, We Bought a Zoo, Reckless, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant and most recently in Gone Girl.

“Life on Mars” and “Ashes to Ashes” star Philip Glenister has also been cast in “Outcast” as Reverend Anderson, “a hard drinking, hard gambling West Virginian evangelical preacher who believes he’s a soldier in God’s holy war against evil.” Gabriel Bateman (Annabelle) will play Joshua Austin, an eight year old boy who is possessed by a demon that is somehow connected to Kyle Barnes.

Adam Wingard (The Guest) is slated to direct the pilot episode of “Outcast” for Cinemax.
