First Look: Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock In ‘Gotham’

Earlier this year, Donal Logue was rumored to be up for the role of James Gordon in “Gotham,” Fox’s upcoming Batman prequel series. In reality, Logue was actually being considered for Detective Harvey Bullock, a role which he ultimately won.

As originally created by Archie Goodwin and Howard Chaykin in 1974, Bullock was a Gotham City Police officer (and later detective) who was initially out to sabotage Gordon’s career. Later incarnations of the character have more firmly aligned Bullock with Gordon while maintaining Bullock’s rep as a possibly dirty cop.

Because Bullock has never previously been in a live action Batman film or TV series, he’s considered to be a lesser known character in the Bat-canon. That will likely change after “Gotham,” which reimagines Bullock as Gordon’s first partner and a mentor character of sorts.

Fox has released the first official image of Logue in costume as Detective Bullock, which you can see below.

There are a few unofficial shots of Ben McKenzie as James Gordon floating around online, but Fox hasn’t yet released a promo picture for his character.

Prior to “Gotham,” Logue starred in the Fox comedy series, “Grounded For Life,” in addition to his starring stint on FX’s “Terriers.” Logue has recently recurred on “Vikings,” “Copper” and “Sons of Anarchy.”

“Gotham” will likely debut this fall on Fox.
