Mae Young Classic Competitor Allysin Kay Opens Up About The Tourament, Health Issues, More

Mae Young Classic Competitor Allysin Kay was a guest on a recent episode of the All Night Long Wrestling Podcast. She spoke about recent health issues and her involvement in this year’s tournament below are some highlights and you can hear the full interview in the embedded player above.

Allysin On Being Diagnosed With Blood Clots In Her Lungs:

It happened right in the middle of Impact tapings in January. I thought maybe I had fractured a rib or displaced a rib, or worst case a collapsed lung. I went to the hospital and it turned out I had blood clots in my lungs. I couldn’t really do much for 6 or 7 months, and I was on blood thinners. The first month or two I could barely move. After that I could work out but not really do anything full contact for a while.

Allysin On Her First Match Back Being In The Mae Young Classic:

It was definitely surreal. I kept wondering what it would have been like if I hadn’t had the health issues earlier in the year. Would I have felt as much pressure etc. I wasn’t worried about re-injuring anything, I just didn’t want to look rusty, or be blown up. At the same time I still felt calm, I still felt confident because I’ve been doing it for 10 years.

Allysin On Returning To Shine:

It almost feels like a completely new place to me. The locker room is different from what it used to be. One thing I’ve always loved about Shine is that it’s very storyline driven. Shine strictly sticks to storylines and that’s where I feel like I thrive. I love being in a storyline and getting creative with it.
