Dave Meltzer took to his Wrestling Observer Radio show to expound on the epic Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada IV match at Dominion.

Meltzer called the match the greatest he’s ever seen,

“A lot of people have said best match they’ve ever seen in their lives, an awful lot of people including me.”

Meltzer doubts he will ever see a better match,

“This match was incredible. When they did the match in Tokyo, I thought it was one of the best matches I’d ever seen. When they did the match in Osaka last year at Dominion. I thought it was the best I’d ever seen. The G-1 match I didn’t think was the best match I’d ever seen. It was a fantastic match though, still one of the best matches I’d ever seen. After every one of those matches, I never thought when it was over that I will never see a better match than this match. Even Osaka when it was over it was like, ‘This is the best match I’ve ever seen.’ And I thought someday I’ll see a better match. I’m not sure—when it was over that was one of my first thoughts, ‘This is the best match I will ever see.’ When the match ended that was kinda like my thought.”

Meltzer gave Omega and Okada high praise,

“I believe that I saw the two greatest wrestlers in the world today both have their greatest performance, each man’s greatest individual performance on the same night in the same match which climaxed — an 18 month to 2 year story — and ended the greatest championship reign in decades all at the same time. So many things came together.”

Meltzer also claimed that no one else would have been capable of pulling off the match and specifically named WWE Superstar A.J. Styles as a wrestler that would not have been able to pull it off. Although he hasn’t officially given the match a star rating yet, the first three bouts are each rated at six stars, the highest in the history of professional wrestling.
