On if was surprised to get the call that he’ll be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame:

JJ: When I got the call in early January I was shocked. It was a surreal moment. I was incredibly overcome with the feeling of being humbled, grateful and all of that right out of the gate. Shock is the synonym I would use to describe my thoughts on going into the WWE Hall of Fame. I’m third generation, of all the tens of thousands of wrestlers that I’ve watched or been around or know the history of. We’re going back decades and decades and decades and there are less than 200 of us in the WWE Hall of Fame. I am incredibly honored, incredibly grateful and… yes, if you want to touch on how it’s controversial it is there are absolutely many people that do deserve to go in before I do. I am humbled and it’s not my decision.

On what his relationship is like with the Hardys currently as he re-enters the WWE Universe alongside them:

JJ: One of the first texts I got on the day of my Hall of Fame announcement was from Jeff. Me and Jeff go way, way back. Super happy for those guys. It goes without saying, I’ve vacationed with Jeff and Beth and his kids. It’s all good as I relate to it. Obviously last year there was a lot with me on the social media side of things. I am certainly glad it’s all in the rear view mirror. There were decisions made well above Anthem Wrestling Exhibition at the very tip top. That’s the business. That is the business. It’s a part of the business. The ups the downs… it goes with the territory. I’ve been around a long, long time and it’s not always been a bed of roses and it certainly probably isn’t the last time it won’t be. That’s life. Me and Jeff communicated the day it came out and I was really happy to hear from him. I know Jeff has some things going with his music, he loves his music and I am happy for him.

Other topics that Jeff discusses in his interview include:

  • His reaction to the call he would be entering the WWE Hall of Fame
  • If his WWE paid recovery treatment was the catalyst to re-ignite the relationship
  • Whether there are plans to work in any backstage or training capacity for WWE
  • What his relationship with the Hardys is like
