Speculation on the Future of Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion
Since winning the WWE Championship, Jinder Mahal has been relegated to a midcard position, competing against names such as Mojo Rawley and Tye Dillinger midway through SmackDown Live episodes. He has also conducted a number of promos that did not close the show. Even at the SmackDown Live-exclusive Money in the Bank pay-per-view, which typically places the title match after the ladder match to add anticipation, Mahal’s match was before the throw-away tag bout between Breezango and The Ascension.
There is now major speculation within WWE that the company has reduced their interest in pushing Mahal, because it has not turned out as very successful regarding the purpose of expanding the Indian market. There is a report from Slice Wrestling stating that Mahal is expected to lose the championship within the next month, most likely at SummerSlam.
