According to Digital Spy, UFC star Conor McGregor will join season 7 of the hit HBO show “Game of Thrones”.

UFC president Dana White recently confirmed the casting announcement, and had the following to say to FOX Sports 1 on McGregor joining the cast:

“I knew that a few months ago they were interested in putting him in the show and I’m glad he did it It’ll be great. The show’s huge, it’s awesome and I’m excited for him.”

According to the fan site Watchers on the Wall, McGregor will play a pirate in Euron Greyjoy’s (Pilou Asbæk) crew on the ship Silence, as previously speculated. The role is not expected to be full-time, and it’s more likely McGregor it will be more of a cameo than anything else.

On top of that, the part will apparently be non-speaking, and the site claims it will be a “short term gig”, so whether it lasts through the next two seasons as previously suggested remains to be seen.
