I opened up Wednesday’s “Wrestling Reality with Justin LaBar” on TribLIVE Radio talking about The Miz & Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack. Here’s some of what I had to say up front:

Is it a work? Is it a shoot? The magical questions but the point is if you’re asking the question then that’s all that matters. Vince must have some extra muscle in those puppet pulling strings this week. First, working much of his locker room with the finish of Brock vs Randy and now this. Things aren’t as black and white as was it planned or down to the script. It doesn’t quite work as definitive as that. From those I’ve spoke with in WWE that they knew nothing about it happening, they weren’t involved in it, but it id get attention and it looked legit but likely had some pre-planned attention that was kept on a need to know basis. Likely, I’d have to imagine Renne Young didn’t even know which her not knowing and selling it made it get over to the ultimate degree. These things don’t get scripted word for word. It has to be done on feel and those involved have to lose themselves in it. They can speak to bullet points of a script, they can speak to stereotypes like the indy comments toward Daniel Bryan or speak from the heart. Point being, you speak to make people think it’s all real and we want to believe. We want to believe we’re watching some chaos and we are watching what we’re not supposed to be watching. We want to believe. Kayfabe is still alive.

I go on to explain what this did for The Miz and the post-show “Talking Smack.” See the full monologue in the video below:

On the rest of the show…

12:45: How Renee Young helped sell this segment naturally.

14:45: Why The Miz cutting this promo on an active wrestler on the roster wouldn’t have gone over as well.

45:30: Does this mean there is another match left for Daniel Bryan and it’s going to be against The Miz?
