On what could be next for Wade Barrett now that he has been released by WWE:

BH: I think Wade Barrett got fed up and quit. Awhile ago. He’s got other prospects and things besides wrestling. I’ll always say that Wade Barrett, I thought, was a misused talent. I thought he was much better than he got credit for. He was always professional. He was a really hard worker and I think he stayed in it a lot longer than I would have. The booking behind how they used him the last… well, since he got there. It’s been so lousy. He was a really good talent. He was one of the best English wrestlers to ever come out of England if you ask me. They used him wrong right from the start. There’s no reason why he couldn’t have been a huge Superstar in wrestling. He was super talented if you ask me.

On if Bret saw Wade Barrett as a wrestler that could have been WWE World Heavyweight Champion:

BH: Absolutely. I think he could have been the biggest star that ever came out of England. He should have been and could have been. He had the right look. He was a massive, tall, really smooth working, believable, credible wrestler who was good on the mic. He was good in every way but he always had such lousy gimmicks. His character was always so poorly thought out and usually in the lamest storylines. That whole last bit he did with the International foursome or whatever they were. The League of Nations. Whoever thought that one up they should take him out behind the tents and let him go. (Laughs) I really think some of the booking has been really lousy from the start and I think Wade Barrett’s somebody that hung in there and hung in there. He waited and waited and waited for a chance to really show what he had. He was always a really good worker. Had a lot of charisma on the mic. Really well spoken and intelligent guy. Great athlete. The fact they didn’t do anything with him, or barely anything with him, was just a shame.
