Best of the Super Juniors Update
New Japan Pro Wrestling hosted the penultimate event of the 2015 Best of the Super Juniors tournament last night at Korakuen Hall, to determine which two wrestlers would advance to the tournament finals on June 7th.
It was Kyle O’Reilly who would win his bracket, as 2012 winner and second place Ryusuke Taguchi lost to Chase Owens in the main event. O’Reilly will advance to face KUSHIDA this Sunday, with the winner earning an opportunity at Kenny Omega’s IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship at this year’s Dominion 7.5 PPV.
Best of the Super Juniors has seen the crowning of some big stars in recent years. The 2014 winner, Ricochet, has been one of the best wrestlers anywhere in the world over the past year, and has since established himself as Prince Puma, one of the top stars in Lucha Underground. 2010 and 2013 winner, Prince Devitt, dominated New Japan during his final run as the leader of the Bullet Club, and is now one of WWE’s best prospects in Finn Balor.
