A new report is claiming that Vince McMahon's big television return is, and has always been planned for January of 2014. There have been numerous reports claiming that Vince would return to TV over the past several months. Initially, there was talk that he would "definitely" return on the Monday Night Raw after SummerSlam, and then again after Night of Champions, and even more rumors post-Hell in a Cell last month. Other reports claimed it was "definitely" going to happen in November building up to the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

According to the latest statements from the Wrestling Observer, the plan was always to bring Vince back to TV in January of 2014, to build towards WrestleMania, however with the ratings down since the summer, there was talk of needing to bring him back sooner to compensate. John Cena's seemingly miraculous recovery seems to have pushed that need back for the time being. If "January 2014" is indeed when WWE is set to bring the Chairman back to television, the two logical dates would be January 6th, the first Raw of the new year, or January 27th, the night after the Royal Rumble.
