6/4 NWA Main Event Results from Nashville, TN

Mike Porter’s NWA Main Event is now running on Thursday nights at the Community Life Center in Nashville, TN located at

413 Veritas St
, just off
Nolensville Rd.
I would estimate an attendance of around 50 for last night’s show.

1) "A Man Named" Rouge vs NWA Mid-America Television Champion "Everybody Knows" Shawn Shultz

Both men worked heel, leading the crowd to cheer more for Shultz than Rouge, who really didn’t have a chance and that’s being nice. It was a non-title match. Shultz wins with a DDT and begins to talk about how he’s the longest reigning NWA champion and how he was going to get what he deserved until Chrisjen Hayme came out to shut him up and challenge him for the belt. Shultz says he’ll take on all comers!…. just not tonight! He already had a match! Scott Barry(minus his mullet) reminds Shultz that his prior match was not for the title and that he will defend against Hayme tonight.

2) Adam Roberts vs Standard Wrestling Guy

It was good to see former Wildside/Anarchy wrestler Adam Roberts back in the ring but I’m not sure SWG was the best opponent for him. Nothing really clicked in this match. Roberts made short work of Standard Wrestling Guy, a tattooed up guy that wore a luchadore mask, with a pedigree to finish it off.

Intermission – some creepy guy holds a raffle for a "rasslin figure", baseball figure, and "rasslin mask". This went on entirely too long and really took away from the show, which was already suffering at this point. No one with that man’s lack of charisma nor anyone that says "rasslin" should be in charge of a raffle. White Tiger came out and signed some autographs for kids.

3) White Tiger vs Harron Tegress w/ "The Real McCoy"

I was sure this match was just going to be terrible. White Tiger, a really skinny young guy in a mask, comes out and gives a very dry trying too hard babyface "Come onnnnnn" yell. Tegress, an equally young looking guy with a better build, is covered in tattoos including one on his neck so he better hope wrestling works out for him… The match got underway and it was dare I say…. really entertaining! These guys did some good technical work and had a lot of really stiff blows. Tegress uses doublestomps, facewashes, and some impressive suplexes; while Tiger really utilizes technical work and speed. They worked fast and it was the first real back and forth match of the night. White Tiger wins when Tegress refuses to break a crossface when Tiger made it to the ropes, Tegress’ manager claimed White Tiger tapped before the ref’s 5 count. Pretty good ending that made both guys look good.

4) NWA Mid-America Television Champion "Everybody Knows" Shawn Shultz vs "Best of the Best" Chrisjen Hayme

This match was worth the price of admission, which at $8 I had questioned several times before the 3rd match. These guys worked a great match and the fans were really into it, wanting to see Shultz shut up and lose his belt, and believing Hayme had the ability to take it from him. Hayme is the current IWA Deepsouth Heavyweight Champion and ATL Champion, as well as a top contender in SAW. He got the better of Shultz several times in this match but fell short when Shultz cornered the ref and planted a low blow back kick to Hayme, followed by a DDT for the cheap win.

2nd Intermission which included another raffle

5) NWA Mid-America Heavyweight champion Jeff "The Crippler" Daniels & "Wildthing" Will Owens w/ Dominique vs Steve O & Mike Posey

The Daniels and Steve O feud continues on for what seems like almost a year now. Both teams looked like they belonged together. The story of the match was that Daniels didn’t want to face Steve O. The crowd was into the match, as the guys in this match all have the ability to tell a story in their matches. Posey got in a little offense but took a beating from Owens and Daniels. Dominique interfered several times, which the ref(her son) just never could seem to catch. Steve O got the hot tag and cleaned house but Daniels got the pin when Dominique hit Steve O with a chair. Fans were livid after the match that the ref somehow missed the interference and allowed Owens and Daniels to get the win

Thoughts: I enjoyed the last 3 matches more than almost any matches I’ve seen at SAW. SAW is cramming entirely too many matches onto their shows and they suffer due to their time constraints. NWA Main Event promotes their website http://www.nwame.com  which does not mention where they are located and has not been updated since March.
