National Wrestling Alliance News And Notes For 6-8-09

1. Malachi pinned "the Veteran" Adrian Hawkins.

It’s the middle of winter in Cornelia and you can literally hear the crickets chirping outside the NWA Arena save a series of chops by Malachi. Hawkins does damage by posting Malachi’s shoulder. To the top turnbuckle, Hawkins delivers a superplex, but Malachi rolls through for the surprise pinfall victory. Afterwards, Hawkins throws a temper tantrum. This wasn’t a bad match by any stretch, but rather bland.

– John Johnson has an exclusive with Shaun Tempers. Johnson is more disgusted that Tempers sucks up to the fans than he used to with the Reverend. Tempers says he is praying for Truitt Fields family (family emergency) and introduces his partner Bo Newsome. Oh, yeah, they’re fired up. Then, Johnson pisses in his pants when he hears a knock from above and notices Wilson‘s bagman.

2. "Sugar Daddy" Shaun Tempers & Bo "Knows Wrestling" Newsome defeated the Technicians (Tyler Smith & Bobby Moore).

The Technicians waste no time focusing on a single body part after dropping Newsome stomach first on the top rope. Thankfully for Newsome, he didn’t end up regurgitating his leftovers from the local Taco Bell fast food joint like Sal Rinauro did when he refused to share his tacos. Newsome eventually makes the tag to Tempers. Tempers singlehandedly handles the opposition. Newsome counters the Regulator with a dropkick and Tempers wins with a swinging hangman’s neckbreaker. Todd Sexton is certainly soiling himself after this showing.

– Jeff G. Bailey heads out to the ring as he is accompanied by Kimo and the new NWA National Heavyweight Champion "the Universal Soldier" Phil Shatter. Bailey makes it his duty to shove that little tidbit of information down everyone’s throat by educating the NWA Arena faithful about its past champions: Dusty Rhodes, Tully Blanchard, Nikita Koloff, Ted DiBiase, and Tommy Rich (that drew a pop.) Bailey brags about Shatter crushing Mikael Judas in a recent title defense in Charlotte. He then directs his attention to Judas for ambushing Kimo by surprise. Although Ron Garvin has the Hands of Stone™ and Seth Delay the Hands of Steel™, Kimo has the Hand of Doom™ and he is ready to clamp it around Judas’s throat. Bailey openly challenges Judas and orders Shatter aside so that there is no hocus pocus. Cue Judas’s entrance music and he heads out with the lights going out. Judas pulls off Kimo’s mask and they brawl in mid ring. Judas goozles Kimo until he fights back with several martial arts blows to the throat. Both men choke each other out until Shatter nails Judas with the National title. Kimo sets hit foot alongside Judas’s head and drills him from the middle turnbuckle. Bailey calls for the 7 Fingers. Kimo softens up Judas with several blows before delivering the Death Blow. The NWA Elite leave with Judas knocked unconscious and blood foaming from his mouth. NWA Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer and Ace Rockwell heads out to check on Judas. After commercial, numerous paramedics, security, Palmer, and Rockwell continue to monitor Judas while the fans stare in shock. Judas walks out on his own power.

3. "The 7 Figured Deal" Ace Rockwell" pinned "the Great American Scream Machine" Brodie Ray Chase.

Hunter is noticeably shaken up after the events that just unfolded. Chase immediately takes the advantage with Big Boot to the face. Rockwell makes a comeback after Chase plays to the crowd. Rockwell insults Chase with his version of the Fargo Strut. Chase responds by going to the eyes and hits a spinning sitout powerbomb for a two count. Johnson blames Judas’ predicament on his transgressions. After commercial, Chase continues to demonstrate his physical prowess with a delayed vertical suplex. Rockwell fires back, but Chase counters a Sunset flip and delivers an overhead suplex by grabbing both sides of Rockwell’s head. Again, Chase plays to the crowd and Rockwell counters a pump handle slam with the Ace’s High. Afterwards, Rockwell has choice words for Bailey. Rockwell announces that Kimo & Shatter will face Rockwell & Truitt Fields on February 21st. Good match. There is rarely a dull moment with Chase’s sleaziness.

4. Talent & Money (JT Talent & Andrew Pendleton III) defeated the New Wave (Derrick Driver & Steven Walters) by disqualification, so the New Wave retain the NWA Anarchy Tag Team Titles.

These team hate each other and they waste no time getting into a donnybrook. Pendleton helps his team gain the advantage by nailing Walters from behind. To the floor, Pendleton nails Driver with a pair of chair shots. Back in the ring, T & M continue to administer punishment to Driver. T & M use dastardly heel tactics to maintain the advantage. Walters loses his temper after Talent spits in his face and goes for a blind tag. The referee call for the bell when Walters refuses to cooperate. Pendleton pulls Talent to safety. Palmer heads out to settle the situation and helps books a no DQ match between both teams.

CLOSING THOUGHTS: This week’s episode advanced several headline feuds. The never-ending feud between Mikael Judas and Jeff G. Bailey never seems to get old. Anarchy has a knack of putting together great feuds between superheavyweights and Judas/Kimo is no exception. With Shatter holding a major NWA title, it adds another wrinkle. Talent & Money is finally receiving a deserved push. JT Talent has improved in ring over the past year. The only knock is the opening match which had crickets chirping.
