ECW Title:

-Christian (c) vs. William Regal

Christian comes out to a monsterous ovation. Regal comes out with Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov. The ring announcer says by orders of ECW GM Tiffany, both Jackson and Kozlov are banned from ringside. If they won’t leave immediately Regal has to forfit the championship match. They leave and the bell sounds to start things off. Christian with a high cross body on Regal early. Christian working some punches in the corner on Regal now. Christian hops up the ropes to set up a tornado DDT but Regal fights out of it and knocks Christian off the top and onto the floor. They show a replay and Christian went down pretty damn hard. Regal beats on Christian a bit and throws him back in the ring. Regal with a choke on Christian now to slow things down. Christian is being encouraged by the crowd and he starts to make his way out. Regal re-applies the choke. Christian finally battles free and monkey-flips Regal. Huge flipping-style suplex (exploder suplex, according to Matt Striker) on Christian. Regal in firm control now. Regal with a surfboard submission on Christian. Regal with a mean knee to the face on Christian. He tries a pin but only gets two. They are using up a LOT of submission holds in this match, which is one of the few that isn’t a submission rules match. Seems like a waste to me – save them for the submission matches, no? Christian hits a tornado DDT on Regal off the middle rope. Regal catches Christian running in with a big forearm shot. Regal hits the Regal-plex on Christian, a very unique suplex move. Looks pretty cool. Christian slowly trying to fight his way back now. Christian making his comeback now. Christian with a big missile dropkick off the top rope. Christian misses another big move off the rop. Regal does a standing summersault onto Christian for a pin attempt, but only gets two. Regal punching away at Christian now in the corner. Regal runs into a boot from Christian. Christian setting up the Killswitch but Regal counters it. Regal tries a running knee but misses. Christian this time hits the Killswitch for the pinfall victory.

Winner and STILL ECW Champion: Christian

Backstage: John Cena

Backstage we see John Cena standing. He kisses his necklace and looks very serious, as did Orton earlier. We go back to the ring.

In-Ring: Pat Patterson & Dolph Ziggler

The ring announcer brings out the first ever Intercontinental champion, Montreal’s own Pat Patterson. Patterson gets a mic and the crowd is popping pretty good for him. Jim Ross puts over a million historical facts. Patterson is talking in French. Canada forgives him because he speaks French? He was around in 1997, no? Anyways! Patterson switches to English now and talks about being the first ever I-C champion. Patterson says he’s proud to introduce….and Dolph Ziggler’s music cuts him off as he comes out. JR informs us that it wasn’t Ziggler who Patterson was planning on introducing just now. Ziggler makes his way to the ring. Ziggler extends his hand for a shake. Patterson says they don’t have to shake hands. Patterson tells Ziggler he’ll never guess who asked about him last night. He pauses for a minute and says “nobody!” Patterson tells him to calm down, they’re only having fun. He says we’re in Montreal and we like to have fun in Montreal. Patterson tells him honestly he has a great future ahead of him and maybe one day he’ll become I-C champion. Patterson pats him on the back and says “good luck to ya, pal.” He goes to leave but Ziggler stops him. Ziggler is on the mic now. He says first Bob Barker, now Pat Patterson. He asks when this company was taken over by senior citizens. He asks Patterson if he’s here, who’s at home watching reruns of The Golden Girls. Was Wilfred Brimley unable to make it tonight? Does the retirement home know ya snuck out? He says now he’s just having some fun. He says until he saw Patterson come to the ring tonight, he thought he was dead. He tells him his hair piece looks real. He asks how they can be wasting valuable PPV time on some old fossil no one remembers or cares about. “Shut the fuck up” chant from the crowd. He says sure Pat was the I-C champ first, but asks if that was back in the 1800s. He asks if he won the title by beating Abraham Lincoln. Some more old jokes. Okay, what the hell is the point of this? He tries to raise Pat’s hand and Pat shrugs it away. Ziggler pushes Patterson. Pat slowly starting to look more and more pissed. “What?” chants breaking out in between Ziggler’s sentences now. He calls Patterson a coward and kicks him in the stomach. Down goes Patterson. Ziggler goes to leave but stops himself. He comes back in the ring with an evil look on his face. He nears Patterson and out comes John Morrison for the save. Ziggler exits the ring. I’m begging someone to tell me what the point of that happening on this PPV was.
