Ricky Starks Wants To Become The Top Star In AEW, Hopes To Change The Landscape Of Wrestling

Ricky Starks currently holds the FTW Championship, but he has his sights set on the top titles in All Elite Wrestling.

“The Stroke Daddy” and Powerhouse Hobbs will challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at AEW Double or Nothing. Beyond that, Starks wants to become a top player in AEW.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Starks stated that he wants to win the TNT Championship and elevate that title. He then noted that his ultimate goal is to be the world champion, and he wants to be a main-eventer.

“My first goal is to become TNT champion, and I want to raise the level of the title,” said Starks. “I want to represent as a biracial kid, showing people who look like me that they can reach their goals, too. I want to main event a pay-per-view, I want to be AEW champion. Similar to Britt Baker or MJF, I want to be that one at the top. That’s my ultimate goal.”

The former NWA star has come a long way from struggling to make it big on the independent scene, and this adversity continues to fuel the FTW Champion. Moving forward, Starks doesn’t just want to win titles; he wants to change the landscape of wrestling.

“I was left unread in the indies,” said Starks. “No one really cared to bring me in, even though I had so much to offer. I’d see others with names give these dog s— matches and not even care. To this day, it still drives me. I went from sleeping on a floor to sleeping on a couch to sleeping in a car. I didn’t do it for nothing. I am going to influence the landscape of wrestling to change.”
