Jay White Explains Why He Loves Not Being In Japan, Is Excited For Vocal New Japan Strong Crowds

Jay White is excited to hear the reaction from domestic fans.

In an interview with Chris Kelly of the Washington Post, Jay White spoke about stepping through the Forbidden Door and bridging gap between AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. White feels like he’s one of the most suitable people to take such a high-profile spot.

“I don’t think anyone would fit better in the role than someone of my caliber,” White says. “You can’t send over someone who is not really going to cut it.”

White also spoke about how working New Japan Strong shows compare to the normal New Japan events in Japan. White said it’s great to hear fans cheering and being vocal, a stark contrast to the traditional Japanese crowds.

“We go to these different towns, and every single time, the crowd is growing,” White noted. “We hit these different places that haven’t seen New Japan — especially New Japan Strong — and people can experience it for themselves and see what we’re all about.”

“I love not being in Japan,” White said. “The fact that the crowd can’t make noise is still mind-blowing. For a pro wrestling show, it’s not really entertaining when it’s silent.”

Jay White and Hikuleo will team up against IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada and Trent Beretta at Capital Collison on Saturday, May 14.
