Wardlow On His Recent Success: It Feels Like It Happened Overnight, But I’ve Been Ready For Years

Wardlow is quickly becoming a breakout star in All Elite Wrestling, and he’s been dreaming of this moment his entire life.

“Mr. Mayhem” turned on MJF at AEW Revolution, and he has been trying to escape his former employer’s clutches ever since. In recent weeks, the winner of the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match has defeated every obstacle MJF has thrown in his way, and he’ll face a mystery opponent on the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite.

During an appearance on Huber In The Morning, Wardlow discussed his momentum and his newfound place in the spotlight. He stated that, in some ways, this prominence has practically happened overnight, it’s been a long time coming.

“It does feel like it was overnight,” said Wardlow. “It all happened seemingly in the blink of an eye but yeah you’re right, it’s been years and I know I’ve been ready for this opportunity for my whole life. So this is new but familiar at the same time.”

Likewise, Wardlow described how he’s been hoping to have arenas full of fans chanting his name, and now this dream has also become a reality.

“It’s a true dream come true,” said Wardlow. “You spend your whole life dreaming of the thought of an arena full of people chanting for you or chanting your name and that’s been happening consistently every week, every city. I’m getting those types of receptions and sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure this is all real.”

As for his match on Wednesday, “Mr. Mayhem” made it clear that no matter who MJF puts in front of him, he’s confident he’ll emerge victorious.

“He can color this thing and dress it up any way he wants,” said MJF. “It doesn’t matter who it is, and it certainly doesn’t matter how big they are. Nobody stands a chance.”

WrestleZone will have full coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on Wednesday.
