Report: Original Plan For Mustafa Ali’s WWE Return, Update On His Contract

Mustafa Ali appeared on WWE programming for the first time since October when he crashed Miz TV on the April 26 episode of WWE RAW. He subsequently pinned The Miz in a singles bout, but this outcome reportedly wasn’t the original plan.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Ali’s return came together last week, and as of Sunday, the plan for his first bout back called for The Miz to win. Ross Sapp also wrote that Ali was expected to meet with John Laurinaitis before the show. WWE sources stated that Ali was comfortable using the nature of his absence, and his requested release, as part of the segment on WWE RAW.

Fightful’s report also confirmed that Ali’s WWE contract expires in mid-2024, and that it hasn’t been frozen at this point; the deal would have been prolonged due to activity, but Ross Sapp noted that it hasn’t been.
