Chelsea Green: The NWA Needs More Champions Like Matt Cardona, I Would Take The Title All Over The World

Chelsea Green has her sights set on the NWA World Women’s Championship, and ahead of her match against Kamille and Kylie Rae at the upcoming NWA Crockett Cup event, she spoke with Muscle Man Malcolm about what she can bring to the world of NWA.

First, Green explained that NWA doesn’t get the attention it deserves, but she believes people would “love it” if they gave it a chance.

“I mean, first of all, I just feel like people don’t like what they don’t know,” Green said. “I feel like if you watch it, and you put time into investing into the product and the performers, then you’ll love it. If you don’t, and you don’t give it a chance, and all you do is see a clip on social media and shit on it, well then more fool you. Because people have said that all along about every other company but WWE, but when you take the time to actually watch the storylines, and watch the character development, and watch the fights that these people have, I just…I don’t agree with that, I think that those are just people that are kind of like closing their eyes and following the crowd.”

Green went on to say that that exact mentality is what she believes she can change in the world of NWA, and that having a more vocal champion would not only help the company with exposure, but it would bring more fans to the product as well. Plus, Green explained that if she won the title, she would take it all over the wrestling world to get the NWA brand out there, just as her husband, Matt Cardona has done as the Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

“But, that is exactly what I want to bring to NWA,” said Green. “We absolutely do not have enough eyes on this product, and not only that, we don’t have enough eyes on the championships. I would be taking that title everywhere. I would be posting it all over social media, I would be taking it to signings and conventions and things like that.

“It’s so obvious that that’s what we need. We need champions like [Matt Cardona] is doing, who is taking that belt and defending it all over the world, and bringing it national attention. This is National Wrestling Alliance, and where are these belts being taken? To Kamille’s house with her dogs? Give it to me, and I’ll take it around the goddamned world.”

The two-night NWA Crockett Cup will air on March 19 and March 20 on FITE.

In a recent interview with WrestleZone, Cardona explained how he’s doing everything he can to help promote the NWA by bringing the Worlds Heavyweight Champion everywhere he goes, from Disneyland to other independent wrestling shows:

“Now listen, I don’t have control to just make world title matches,” said Cardona. “So I’m not saying when I bring the title to all these shows, it’s gonna be for the ten pounds of gold. I can’t say that. I don’t have the pencil. I’ll certainly walk out with it. I’m certainly proud to be the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. I’ll certainly make sure I’m announced as the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. I’ll certainly get on the mic and say that I’m the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. I mean g–damned I went to Paris, France, and brought the title with me. Went to Disneyland, Paris, went to the Eiffel Tower. Carried that title with me for three days, just putting it up everywhere. Because I’m proud to be the champion.”
