Ric Flair Would Love To Manage A ‘Nasty’ Cesaro In AEW

Ric Flair sees plenty of “nasty heel” potential in Cesaro and The Nature Boy would love to accompany him ringside on a regular basis. On a recent episode of  Ric Flair Wooooo Nation UNCENSORED, the 16-Time World Champion spoke with co-host Mark Madden about what he thinks regarding the Swiss Superman.

“I think he’s a great guy and a really good performer,” Flair started off. “To me he’s a loss. To me there’s always a place for a guy like Cesaro.”

“In my eyes, his working skills, there’s only a few guys better on the show, in a wrestling ring,” he added, but Madden asked Ric if his promo ability perhaps played a factor.

“I think it did, yes. I mean, he talks, he talks very well. He just [doesn’t] have a lot of energy in it,” Flair said noted that it is an across the industry problem. “How many guys do have a charismatic promo now? Think about it, either show.”

Madden asks how much having scripts in front of the wrestlers play an issue at getting the charisma aspect over, but Flair knows that there’s energy that comes with it too. “I know that they’re scripted and all that, but you know, I just can’t imagine if you feel that much energy inside you and I know what it is to always be super charged, somehow it’s gonna play out in the interview.”

What was Ric’s big highlight for Cesaro while the Swiss Superman was in WWE?

“I thought his high point was his series of matches with Seth [Rollins],” he said. “I liked the Bar, but his matches with Seth Rollins were really really good. I’ve never seen Cesaro have a bad match.” Flair notes to be a top star in the industry you need to possess three key factors.

“If you got the skill, the look and you got the charisma, there’s a place for you on top in either company. Find something that’s different than everybody else. Simple as can be,” he said. Madden says that as big as AEW’s roster is, Cesaro would be somebody he’d make a point to sign despite that. Flair agreed.

“I would get Cesaro, get him a new manager and make him a heel.”  Off the cuff, Madden suggested Ric himself.

“Manage him? I’d love it,” Flair said. “Then you work on him with little things that make him nasty. You’ve never seen him be nasty. You take a guy with his skill and his strength and teach how to be nasty, just little tricks of the trade, he’d be really hot.” Flair presented a unique storyline idea that would hammer that attitude home.

“If I was managing him, I would call Tony Khan out to the ring and I’d knock him down from behind and have Cesaro give him a giant swing and put him in a hospital for a month. Or Schiavone! I don’t mean just Tony [Khan], but I mean someone that you can really beat the shit out of, just beat the shit out of make it beleivable, that would be his first night there. Someone questioning his greatness, anybody!”
