Powerhouse Hobbs Declares AEW Revolution Will Be A ‘Powerhouse’ Night, Aims To Show ‘Pure Power And Dominance’

Powerhouse Hobbs is sure that it’s going to be his night at AEW Revolution.

Powerhouse Hobbs recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of the AEW Revolution pay-per-view, where he will be one of six competitors in the “Face Of The Revolution” ladder match. Hobbs said he’s excited for the match and knows it will be a tough battle, but it’s still going to be his night when the smoke clears in Orlando.

“I’m excited. I’m not taking anyone light, it’s a ladder match, anything can happen. I do know is they need to reinforce these ladders with Wardlow, Keith Lee and myself. I know Ricky Starks pretty well, I know Orange Cassidy pretty well, we’re gonna blow the roof off the place but like I said since the day I qualified for this match, it’s gonna be a ‘Powerhouse’ night.”

The winner of the match will earn a future match for the TNT Championship, a title currently held by Sammy Guevara. Asked what he hopes to bring to that title that no other champion has done yet, Hobbs said he doesn’t play around in the ring and fans can expect to see “pure power and dominance.”

The early qualifiers for the ‘Face of The Revolution’ ladder match had fans believing they’d be in store for a big man battle. Hobbs, Keith Lee and Wardlow certainly fit that bill, but now the match also includes Orange Cassidy and Hobbs’ Team Taz stablemate, Ricky Starks. Asked how they are approaching the match where only one of them can win, Hobbs said that they both have the same goal at Revolution. He noted that they’ll deal with the outcome after the fact, but stressed that Team Taz won’t be splitting up over a match result.

“People are already talking about us splitting up, Hook’s doing his thing and me and Ricky are kind of involved together. I wanna put it out there, there’s no disagreements in Team Taz and we’re a tight unit. There’s no disagreements in Team Taz, we’re very close. And if it came down to Ricky getting this TNT title shot or myself, we’ll deal with it how we deal with it but we’re not breaking up. I hear that every single day, every single week but my goal is to climb that ladder and get that TNT title shot.”

Hobbs went on to speak about how Team Taz isn’t just an on-air relationship, noting that their ties run deep behind the scenes as well. Hobbs praised Taz for pointing him in the right direction and helping him become the performer he is today.

”What you see on TV is what you’d see off-camera, there’s no faking the funk with us. We all text each other every single day. As far as me, Taz has pulled me aside so many times and gave me that look like, you need to go out there and be a killer and do what you need to do. Taz has broke down matches for me, he calls me anytime to give me pointers and advice and I can go straight up to him. He’s done that with Ricky [Starks] and he obviously does that with his son, HOOK. Taz has been wonderful. I grew up watching Taz and if you watch closely, there’s some similarities between Taz and myself when I’m in the ring and that’s because I’m learning under his tree.”

Powerhouse Hobbs will face off against Keith Lee, Wardlow, Orange Cassidy, Ricky Starks and a yet-to-be-announced competitor in the “Face of the Revolution” ladder match at AEW Revolution on Sunday, March 6. WrestleZone will have full coverage of the pay-per-view and related news leading up to the event.
