Chris Jericho Believes An NJPW/AEW Supershow Will Be Possible Once Japan Opens Up More

Chris Jericho wants to see All Elite Wrestling go on a world tour.

The former AEW World Champion is one of the most renowned veterans in the promotion, but for the majority of its existence, AEW has been unable to travel internationally due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With travel restrictions becoming less strict, the company continues to visit new markets, and Jericho, who has previously performed all over the globe, hopes to see AEW venture to other countries.

During an appearance on FITE in Focus, “The Influencer” shared his excitement about this possibility and noted that he sees plenty of potential in it. He specifically noted that a supershow with New Japan Pro-Wrestling and AEW could happen once Japan opens up a little more.

“As soon as the UK opens, that’s gonna be huge for us,” said Jericho. “As soon as Japan opens up a little bit more, I can see a huge New Japan versus AEW supershow. And like I said, Canada is a complete no-brainer because I think there’s probably six or seven cities there that we could do huge business in.”

The veteran elaborated by describing how the pandemic forced AEW to run out of Daily’s Place for several months, but now that the company is back on the road, he expects to see “an explosion” when the promotion visits fresh markets.

“There’s so many places that we haven’t been,” said Jericho. “And the reason for that is because three months after we started, we were wrestling in Jacksonville for eight months straight. And thank goodness we were able to do that, and it was awesome. But once we started going back on the road again, and once crowds started coming back, and it didn’t take long, we realized there is a lot of places that haven’t seen us. And we are ready to go.

“Because we got everything organized with the stories, the talent, we’ve got the greatest roster in the world today. It’s gonna be an explosion when we finally do get a chance to hit some of these cities and some of these countries that we’ve never been to before.”

AEW recently announced that it will be returning to Las Vegas and making its debut on the west coast later this year.
