Tony Khan is finally in position for the big announcement.
The past few weeks have seen Tony Khan hint about making a major announcement, and now it’s finally time to find out what that is. All Elite Wrestling confirmed that Khan will make “a huge announcement” on the March 2 episode of AEW Dynamite.
In addition to Khan’s announcement, Dynamite will also feature “Hangman” Adam Page & The Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds versus Adam Cole & reDRagon’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, and the Tag Team Casino Battle Royale.
Tony Khan first mentioned the latest major announcement when he appeared on the February 18 episode of Busted Open Radio, where he said he’s been working on something “massive” and it was a deal that most wouldn’t expect. He later added that he was hoping to get the deal done within that next week, but nothing materialized publicly. The business deal was teased ahead of Dynamite on February 23, but Khan said it was still in progress and mentioned being under a non-disclosure agreement. Khan then returned to Busted Open on February 25 and said that he hoped to finally reveal the major announcement on March 2, which now looks to be the case.
“I am going to tell everyone right now you definitely don’t want to miss Wednesday night Dynamite next week. I’ve been talking a lot about a big announcement in the world of pro wrestling — not only is there going to be a lot of great wrestling on the show, the Casino Tag Battle Royal, 15 tag teams entering the ring,” Khan explained. “I’m going to add a lot more to the card, but I’m going to promise you guys right now that I have a huge announcement coming. Nobody knows what it is. It’s going to be something very important in the wrestling business. It’s not one particular piece of talent, it’s something very special and I’m excited about it. I believe it’s something we’ll be in position to announce on Wednesday. So I’m pretty excited about that.”
