Jeff Hardy says he’s not going to All Elite Wrestling just yet.
One day after an interview surfaced of him stating he was AEW-bound, Jeff Hardy posted the following statement on Twitter, claiming that his comments were taken out of context. Hardy says that nothing is official yet, and he was just setting a goal for himself when he’s able to do so.
Nothing is official, http://SocialMedia.It can’t be right now.I’ve simply set a goal for myself & I will achieve it…eventually?
The main thing is,”Don’t get excited!”
Hardy’s “official” remark is in reference to his non-compete clause still being in effect. Hardy was released by WWE on December 9, 2021, and cannot sign anywhere else until the 90-day clause runs out on March 9. POST Wrestling later reported that the interviewer, Jared Myers, said Hardy was clear that he would be signing with AEW when the non-compete expires, not that he’d already signed anything.
Matt Hardy has addressed his brother’s status in recent weeks, noting that the non-compete clause was still in effect, but you can “never say never” about seeing the Hardys back together in AEW. The duo already have several independent dates lined up, including at Big Time Wrestling’s live event on March 12.
