Sean Waltman is finally ready to step back into the squared circle.
Wednesday’s new episode of The Bump featured Sean Waltman as a guest, and the WWE Hall Of Famer said he’s finally been cleared to return to the ring.
“It’s going great. My surgeon gave me the go-ahead, I just got the green light to get back in the ring,” Waltman said.
Co-host Matt Camp then asked Waltman about being at SmackDown in Los Angeles on December 4, and he took time to praise RK-Bro and Brock Lesnar vs. Sami Zayn. Ryan Pappola then asked for Waltman’s thoughts on the current Brock Lesnar, and he then recalled wrestling Lesnar in a tag team match in 2002. Waltman noted that he remembered the match because it was the one that featured Orton’s first shoulder injury.
Asked if he had any resolutions heading into 2022, Waltman once again mentioned his in-ring return and said he hopes the phone rings for another run in the ring.
“I’m just going to get into better and better shape. I’ll be ring-ready the beginning of next year in case my phone rings,” he added.
Waltman had knee surgery in January 2021 to repair his ACL, MCL and meniscus and originally said wanted to be ready to wrestle in January 2022, which would be around the time of the next WWE Royal Rumble event. He also spoke about his desire for WWE to host some of his return matches and said if it doesn’t happen, he knows he’s got plenty of other opportunities to return to the ring next year.
“So, just in case, I would like to be ready for Royal Rumble time, but that’s not something that’s like my main goal, to do the Royal Rumble, but if they called me I would do the Royal Rumble. I love WWE, Nick [Hausman, his former Pro Wrestling 4 Life co-host], and regardless of what’s going on,” Waltman noted, “I love it and I would like for them to be the ones to host my return matches. But if not, there’s plenty of other people that will. I’ve already had a lot of people reach out, you know? So, we’ll see, man.”
Waltman has named Santos Escobar and MSK as some of the names he’d like to share the ring with, and previously said he’d be open to a potential SummerSlam 2022 match with Sami Zayn.
