Ricky Starks Explains Why Every Year Is His Year, Says He’s Just Built Different

He’s no Italian Stallion, but Ricky Starks isn’t human. He’s like a piece of iron.

Ricky Starks was a recent guest on Rasslin’ with Brandon F. Walker and talked about his recent neck injury, noting it’s the only one he’s had in his career. Starks said he’s doing well now [he was cleared this summer] and joked about coming back so soon, noting that he’s just built different.

“The only injury I ever had in my entire career was that neck injury,” Starks said before Walker asked if he’s good to wrestle now. “Yeah, I went and took calcium pills. [laughs] And not wrestling.

“I’m just built different, actually, I really am. There’s not like, I think I’m from a different part of the planet. Probably from Russia. That’s where a lot of the super athletes are built,” Starks joked, adding that he’s like a more handsome Ivan Drago.

Starks then spoke about his hopes for 2022, explaining why they are the same they are every year.

“I’m not one of those people that say, ‘Oh 2022 is my year.’ I never said 2021 is my year. Every year is my year that I’m alive. And next year will be no different. So I suspect because I’m in control of my own fate here, that I’m actually gonna rise to the top,” Starks said, “and I’m actually bigger than wrestling itself.”

Ricky Starks took some time to praise Dante Martin, noting that there’s no ceiling for the Top Flight member.

“There is none. He defies the laws of gravity. It’s very weird. I’ve never seen someone have so much hops,” he stated. “Where does it come from? Like ligaments have to be, my ligaments are shredded [if I did that].”

Starks spoke more about getting cleared this year and why he sees the slow return to full-time competition as a blessing. Read more about Starks’ return to the ring at this link.
