Report: Kenny Omega Set For Multiple Surgeries, Hoping For Late February 2022 Return

Kenny Omega is set to go under the knife but it doesn’t look like he’ll be too long, despite missing a scheduled title defense next month.

According to a report by Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer NewsletterKenny Omega is set to have multiple surgeries that will take him out of action at AAA TripleMania Regia II in December. It was noted that AAA was informed of the decision on Wednesday, and an announcement for new plans for the event is forthcoming.

Omega was originally scheduled to face off with El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship at the December 4th event, but he will no longer appear on the card to due the surgeries. According to Meltzer, Omega will be getting surgeries on his shoulder, knee and abdomen and is evaluating a septum surgery as well. Omega, the former AEW World Champion and current AAA Mega Champion, had been working with a torn labrum and an abdominal hernia for the past several months, and recently revealed he’s been working with vertigo since 2018.

Despite having multiple surgeries to correct several nagging issues, none are considered to be major procedures, and Omega is hoping to return to AEW “in or around late February.”

Kenny Omega lost the AEW World Championship to Hangman Adam Page at Full Gear on November 11. He appeared on the following episode of AEW Dynamite in a backstage promo, writing himself off for the time being by explaining that he had some things to fix and couldn’t do it there.
