Dante Martin Praises Eddie Kingston’s Level Of Knowledge, Names Some Of His Mentors In AEW

Dante Martin took part in a media scrum at AEW Full Gear and fielded various questions from the media, explaining that the reaction to his appearance in his hometown was “unreal.”

Dante Martin said he has a few mentors in the company, naming Lio Rush, Dean Malenko and Jerry Lynn as some of the names that have helped him. Martin then said he had another ally in Eddie Kingston, who has been helping him with promos.

“I talk to Eddie Kingston a lot, Eddie Kingston’s one of the best guys out there for that. And the amount of knowledge he has is insane,” Martin said.

Martin also spoke about his brother Darius’ injury and said there’s no timetable for his return, but they can’t wait to get back together and pursue their tag team goals.

“He’s been out since about February now. There’s not really like a time gauge on when he’s coming back. But he’s super excited to be back, ready to take over the tag team scene and keep Top Flight strong,” Dante said, later adding that he hopes he and Darius are tag team champions in the near future.

Tony Khan was also at Dante’s scrum and spoke about Darius’ injury and how they’ve dealt with it.

“When Darius got hurt, it was a terrible situation. Like Top Flight are a very big part of AEW but we knew like it was gonna be a long injury and when Darius got hurt, I think you [Dante] were still 19. Yeah I mean Dante was 19 years old so it was critical not to let his development get stifled. So it was very important to me to make sure to put him on an accelerated track while Darius was out so that his development could continue. And I think we’ve made lemonade out of a terrible situation, right, tried to make lemonade out of lemons. And he’s had so many great matches. I remember when we first sat down and I wanted you [to face] Matt Sydal and what a great rivalry and mentorship both it has been. And now Lio has been such a great coach for Dante also while Darius has been gone. But I think we miss Darius a lot and can’t wait for Darius to come back.”
