Miro Advances To Finals Of AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament

Miro and Orange Cassidy waged war on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite with a spot in the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament finals on the line. In a hard-fought match, Miro walked out one step closer to a title shot.

Cassidy was initially scheduled to face Jon Moxley in this semi-final bout, but the night before the show, AEW President Tony Khan announced that Moxley is entering an inpatient alcohol treatment program. Heading into AEW Dynamite, it was unclear who “Freshly Squeezed” would face instead. Miro was revealed as Moxley’s replacement early in the show, and this announcement set up an exciting main event.

Initially, Cassidy used his usual flair and cool demeanor against “The Redeemer” by dodging attacks and hitting him with some lazily thrown kicks. But the former AEW TNT Champion eventually forced “Freshly Squeezed” to get serious. Cassidy eventually fired up with an impacful forearm and a tornado DDT that earned him a near fall.

With both stars now giving it their all, Miro quickly rolled to the floor, but Cassidy followed him with a dive off the top rope that sent the pair crashing through the timekeeper’s table. Miro barely made it back into the ring before the referee counted to ten, and Cassidy nearly scored the win with the Beach Break, but “The Redeemer” kicked out at the last second.

In the end, Miro was unstoppable; shortly after he kicked out of the Beach Break, he got up and laid out Cassidy with a brutal kick. He then locked in the Game Over submission on Cassidy, who had no choice but to tap out.

As a result, Miro won the bout and punched his ticket to the finals at AEW Full Gear. There, he’ll face Bryan Danielson, who entered the ring after the match on Wednesday and attempted to shake Miro’s hand. The powerhouse declined this offer; in doing so, he added even more tension to this upcoming bout, in which the winner will earn a shot at the AEW World Championship.
