Nyla Rose Breaks Down Her Path To The TBS Championship, Calls Getting Involved With ‘Tag Me In’ A No-Brainer

Nyla Rose is ready to tag in and help erase the stigma surrounding mental health.

Nyla Rose recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard about her involvement in the Tag Me In United campaign. Nyla, Trish Stratus, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle and Lita are just some of the names involved, banding together to help normalize the conversation about mental health while reminding people that support is readily available.

“I wish I had a better story but it’s pretty straightforward. We were informed that this was a campaign and this was something going on, and it was just a no-brainer to be part of it. I said, ‘Yes, absolutely, sign me up. Literally, tag me in on this.’ Mental health is very important to me, it should be important to everybody and as we’re seeing the tide turn,” Nyla explained, “it’s coming to light that a lot of people are struggling with varying issues. Recently, we’ve lost quite a few people to their struggles with mental health, so it’s a no-brainer for me to get involved.”

Fans can learn more about the program on the Tag Me In United website, or on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.

“Share the tag, share it on socials, let’s get the word out,” Nyla added.

Tag Me In promotes unity and teamwork, and while she is a singles competitor in AEW, Nyla noted that she’s not exactly alone when she heads into battle there, either.

“You’ve never alone when you’ve got a Guerrero in your corner, and I’ve got one of the best there is, Vickie Guerrero. What a mind for the business, she’s had my head on straight, you’ve seen by watching every week,” noted Nyla, who is unbeaten in her last five singles matches. “We’re dominating the competition.”

Nyla also agreed that while she does have a “champion’s advantage” by way of a first-round bye in the AEW TBS Championship tournament, it’s not something she was just given.

“I did not ‘get’ a first-round bye, I earned that first-round bye with all of the destruction we’ve had leading up to this, just proving why I am the ‘Native Beast.’ Yeah, you said ‘champion’s advantage’ [with me] being a former champion, I’m ahead of the game and everybody else is playing catch-up,” she explained. “Shida is probably the only other person in this tournament who knows what it’s like to be a champion, so it’s been my pleasure to watch Serena Deeb make her life a living hell these past few weeks.”

Nyla is a former AEW Women’s World Champion and held the title for 101 days, but she’ll meet Hikaru Shida in the next round of the TBS Championship tournament. Despite Shida being the one to end her first AEW Women’s Championship reign, Nyla offered a spoiler as to how the next match — and the tournament itself — will play out.

“Oh I’ll give you a spoiler, I’ll tell you how it’s going to break down — I’m going to break Shida down, and then whoever’s next in line — Stat, Ruby, I don’t care. I’m going to break them down and I’m going to keep breaking ‘em down until I get to the finals, until I get to the TBS Championship. I’m going to be the first-ever, inaugural TBS Champion,” Nyla declared. “There’s your spoiler, put it on a t-shirt, print it, buy it, wear it, tweet about it. That’s what’s going to happen.”
