MJF Is A Huge Fan Of Roman Reigns… But He Still Lost The Key Demo To Ruby Soho

MJF says he’s a huge fan of Roman Reigns and could potentially work with him one day, but that doesn’t change the fact that he lost the key demo to Ruby Soho on Friday night.

MJF appeared on Rasslin’ with Brandon Walker on Barstool Sports and was asked about Roman Reigns’ recent remarks about AEW not being competition, including how he referred to the roster as “little brothers.” AEW Rampage ultimately drew more viewers while going head-to-head with SmackDown for 30 minutes on Friday night, which AEW is calling a big win for the promotion.

MJF said Reigns’ comments don’t really matter since AEW’s Ruby Soho “beat” him in the 18-49 demographic on Friday, but that doesn’t mean he’ll sit there and disparage the current WWE Universal Champion.

“Roman Reigns lost in the key demographic to Ruby Soho, and Ruby Soho sucks, so I don’t know what to tell you. That’s not me shitting on Roman Reigns, I think Roman Reigns is a hell of a performer, he really is. I think he’s absolutely incredible. Am I better than him on the mic and in the ring? Yeah, but I’m not going to go out of my way and talk shit on him because I respect him, I respect what he does,” MJF said. “I respect the hard work that goes into putting out the product that is WWE. And again, someday I might work there.

Walker noted it could be as soon as 2024, alluding to MJF’s contract running out and his comments from earlier in the podcast about making Tony Khan “pony up” to re-sign him.

“Yeah, and I’m also sure if he sees this, he’ll pretend he doesn’t know who I am because that’s what they do over there, when in reality I know they’re all watching our stuff. And again, I cannot stress this enough,” he explained. “I’m a huge fan of Roman Reigns. I think he’s great, I would love to work with him one day.”

Staying on the topic of contracts, Walker asked if MJF thinks WWE is scouting him to make a run at him in 2024?

“I think you’d have to be an idiot not to be throwing an absurd amount of money at me,” MJF said.

Ruby Soho defeated The Bunny on Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage.
