New Japan Showdown Night One Spoilers (Taped 10/16)

New Japan Pro-Wrestling held the first night of its two-night New Japan Showdown event in Philadelphia on Saturday. Highlights from the event included a big singles match between Minoru Suzuki and Chris Dickinson, Rocky Romero and Fred Roser teaming up to take on Team Filthy, and much more.

Kevin Knight defeated Hikuleo

Stray Dog Army (Barrett Brown, Bateman and Misterioso) defeated Brody King, Karl Fredericks, and The DKC

Team Filthy (Jorel Nelson, JR Kratos and Royce Isaacs) defeated Alex Coughlin, David Finlay, and Yuya Uemera

Juice Robinson defeated El Phantasmo

  • Following the match, Robinson challenged Moose to a match at Battle in the Valley in November.

Alex Zayne defeated Ariya Daivari

Rocky Romero and Fred Rosser defeated Team Filthy (Tom Lawlor and Danny Limelight)

  • Afterward, Lawlor attacks Rosser because Rosser rolled him up for the pin. The rest of Team Filthy joins the assault. Lawlor chokes Rosser out and cuts his hair. Lawlor pulls Rosser’s hair out with his teeth.

Ren Narita & Clark Connors defeated Will Ospreay & TJP

  • Ospreay attacks Narita after the match. Narita fights back and grabs Ospreay’s title. He points at it and gives it back. He seemingly challenges Ospreay to a match.

Jay White defeated Fred Yehi

  • After the match, White says he’s opening the door on NJPW Strong and invites anyone from any company to face him. He then challenges Kota Ibushi to a match.
