New Japan Pro Wrestling continued the 31st G1 Climax on Thursday, and the night did a lot to sort out the traffic jam at the top of B Block. Kazuchika Okada and Jeff Cobb will battle for B Block on Wednesday, but Okada is not in the position he hoped to be going into the final night of block competition.
In the main event, Tama Tonga shocked the world by beating Kazuchika Okada clean with a double-underhook piledriver named Dive Shack Driver, crushing Okada’s hopes of going 8-0 undefeated in this year’s tournament. The loss means Okada is in a must-win situation on Wednesday when he faces the only man in G-1 Climax history to go 8-0, Jeff Cobb.
Cobb was able to keep his historic winning streak alive by beating the thorn in the side of B Block, EVIL. EVIL has dick-kicked his way through the tournament, nipping at the heels of Cobb & Okada’s leads in the block. Cobb put an end to EVIL’s hopes of spoiling everyone’s party, overcoming Dick Togo, a kick in the beanbag, and all other sorts of shenanigans from EVIL to get the win with Tour of the Islands.

With EVIL’s loss, Cobb and Okada are the clear frontrunners, leaving everyone else wrestling for bragging rights. Hiroshi Tanahashi picked up the win over YOSHI-HASHI, SANADA pinned Hirooki Goto, and Chase Owens got an emotional win over Taichi.
Clad in the colors of his mentor “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton, who passed earlier this year, Owens hit an Alabama Jam and a Package Piledriver to put away the Holy Emperor.
