Trish Stratus, Chris Jericho, Lilian Garcia, And Other Stars Form The ‘Tag Me In’ Initiative For Mental Health

Trish Stratus and Lilian Garcia want to help wrestling fans remember that their mental health is extremely important with the “Tag Me In” initiative.

During Mental Health Awareness week, some of the most popular professional wrestlers in the world across multiple companies are getting together to take part in “Tag Me In” to help improve wrestling fans’ mental health.

The objective of the “Tag Me In” initiative is to help normalize the conversation about mental health while reminding people that support is readily available. Several professional wrestlers, including WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, and Lita, are participating in the PSA for “Tag Me In.”

Likewise, All Elite Wrestling‘s Chris Jericho, AAA’s Psycho Clown, IMPACT Wrestling’s Gail Kim, former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia, and many more talents across multiple wrestling promotions are also involved.

Stratus and Garcia recently sat down with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to promote “Tag Me In”, and they also described how their time traveling together on the road was beneficial to their mental health.

“We’re here to open up the conversation,” said Stratus. “This is a place of comfort and a place to feel safe, and it’s so nice to have someone else who can relate. Our Monday night drives were cathartic and so meaningful for my mental health. Having someone support and understand you, that is so important. It helps you realize you’re not alone, and that’s what Lilian did for me. It’s O.K. to realize you’re not perfect. It’s O.K. to feel crappy about something. And it’s wonderful to be able to share it with someone. That was vital for us.”

Garcia echoed Stratus’ sentiments reflecting on how important those road trips were by noting the importance of having someone to talk to, rather than feeling alone with your thoughts.

“We trusted each other and were vulnerable with one another,” said Garcia. “That time was so special, and extremely helpful for my mental health. She was able to reel me in and help me. So I know how important this is, and I’m over the moon to be part of ‘Tag Me In.’ Let’s help people not feel alone anymore. It’s important to speak about mental health and the challenges we’re facing. It’s time we normalize the conversation. It’s time people stopped feeling so isolated.”

There is a stigma behind asking for help when it comes to mental health, and Stratus hopes initiatives like “Tag Me In” can help put an end to this pattern.

“It’s time to end the stigma behind asking for help,” Trish Stratus said. “We’re all people experiencing these feelings. It’s so nice to have someone else relate.”
