New Japan Pro Wrestling continued the 31st G1 Climax on Wednesday & Thursday for nights 6 and 7 of the prestigious tournament. Leaders are beginning to emerge in both blocks, though there’s still plenty of tournament left.

In B Block, Kazuchika Okada and Jeff Cobb have both remained unbeaten through three rounds of competition, and their momentum could send one of them all the way to the finals. Okada had the unenviable task of putting down a hometown favorite, defeating YOSHI-HASHI in a thrilling Korakuen Hall main event.
Jeff Cobb destroyed a former-G1 Climax winner, battering Hirooki Goto in an absolute war of a match. Cobb simply cannot be stopped this year. Unless Okada can find a way around him, Cobb is cutting a path straight to the finals.
Over in B Block, Tetsuya Naito’s injury has catapulted Great-O-Khan and Zack Sabre Jr. to the top of the standings. Sabre bested O-Khan on Thursday, finally reaping the rewards that he’d bestowed on the rest of the block by injuring Naito in the first place. Winless wrestlers like Tanga Loa and (until Thursday) Tomohiro Ishii still have points, as Naito’s early forfeiture spread points to all ends of B Block.
In Thursday’s main event, Shingo Takagi defeated KENTA to regain a bit of the momentum he lost after tapping out to Zack Sabre Jr., much the same way Kota Ibushi bounced back from early losses with a win over Toru Yano.
