Report: AEW Set To Introduce Women’s TBS Championship

Who will be the first woman in AEW to hold the TBS Championship?

According to the Mat Men Podcast’s Andrew Zarian, All Elite Wrestling is set to introduce a new secondary women’s championship in the near future. Zarian reported the name of the new title on Denise Salcedo’s F4WOnline AEW Dynamite post-show on Wednesday night, confirming it will be called the “TBS Championship.” This would be AEW’s second women’s championship after the AEW Women’s World Championship, currently held by Britt Baker.

Earlier in the day, Zarian hinted about “hearing rumblings” of a new title being introduced to AEW TV, noting that it would be a secondary women’s championship. After teasing that it would involve the TBS network, Zarian confirmed it would in fact be a singles title called the TBS Championship on Salcedo’s show. No further details about when the title would be introduced were reported at the time of broadcast.

All Elite Wrestling currently airs on TNT and has a men’s title named after the network; that title is currently held by Miro. AEW is set to move to TBS in January 2022, so the new women’s title would likely coincide with the migration to the new network.

Eric Bischoff commented on the move to TBS and called it “a giant bonus” and a brilliant move.” Read more about why he said AEW is open to a giant net gain in the future at this link.
