Ric Flair Removed From WWE Signature Open, Merchandise Pulled From WWEShop

WWE is pulling back on its references to Ric Flair amid the sexual assault allegations made against him on Dark Side Of The Ring.

Over the weekend, CarShield issued a statement claiming they were pausing Flair’s commercial campaign, and now WWE is scaling back by phasing Flair out of their branding and online store. Flair was previously featured in the WWE TV opening credits, but his likeness and ‘WOOOOOO’ catchphrase were removed from the video package starting with the September 20 edition of RAW. WWEShop.com is also devoid of Ric Flair merchandise, as a search for his name results in 0 items for sale.

Ric Flair is dealing with the fallout from the “Plane Ride From Hell” episode of Dark Side Of The Ring, where former flight attendant Heidi Doyle accused him of making unwanted sexual advances, including forcing her to grab his penis. Flair issued a statement on Monday and addressed comments made by 30 For 30 director Rory Karpf before saying that the allegations against him never happened. He later issued a follow-up statement on Monday night that clarified some details about the episode before saying he condemned sexual assault.

Tommy Dreamer is also facing backlash for his remarks about the allegations against Ric Flair, as he has since been indefinitely suspended by IMPACT Wrestling, and was also removed from his co-host position on Busted Open Radio. Dreamer issued a statement over the weekend, which you can read at this link.
