On the first night of the 2021 WWE Draft, a huge WWE Universal Championship match will reportedly take place with a particularly noteworthy opponent challenging Roman Reigns for the title.
In a bout advertised during the broadcast of tonight’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown (via Wrestling Observer’s Andrew Zarian), Drew McIntyre will be taking on Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship on the October 1, 2021 episode of the show.
This episode in October will also mark the first night of the 2021 WWE Draft, so it’s possible that WWE may have hinted at McIntyre making the move to SmackDown. If that’s the case, it’ll be a major change for McIntyre, who has been the face of RAW for over a year now. By shifting brands, he’ll likely lookto jump right back into title contention by targeting the WWE Universal Championship, as indicated by this advertised match.
