CM Punk: AEW Is Full Of ‘Dream Situations’ And Limitless Possibilities, Names Potential Opponents

CM Punk is excited at the prospect of working with AEW’s established and future stars, noting that the company provides a situation where anything can happen.

CM Punk and Tony Khan took part in a post-show media call after Punk debuted on AEW Rampage on Friday night, and Punk was asked about now having the chance to create enjoyable memories with a fresh slate and new company. Punk named a few potential opponents and said that people use the term “dream matches” a lot, but he really believes that he can thrive here in AEW and have fun doing it too.

“Yes [I’m excited], 100 percent. I get excited about the prospect of me working with [Brian Pillman Jr.], [Powerhouse] Hobbs, Ricky Starks, Jungle Boy, Darby Allin, Jon Moxley. I’ve never worked with a Jon Moxley before. Literally, just everybody. I’ve never done anything with the Young Bucks, I’ve never been in the ring with Kenny Omega. I think there are so many ‘dream matches,’ I think is what people call them, but just dream situations, you know? And who knows who else is coming. I don’t know. You [Tony] probably know, you’re the boss and all that, but there’s different combinations that I think people can get excited about,” Punk said, “and it just feels live and I’m jazzed to be here.

“I’m excited to be here and I said it in the promo, I’m here for the fans. I’m here for me, I’m not a liar, I’m not going to lie, but if you tell me this is going to be fun again and I can go out there and have the time of my life? That’s the juice for me. I think it’s limitless possibilities, I really do believe that. It feels like an environment where anything can happen, it’s live TV, let’s have fun.”

Khan added that with the roster they have and the addition of Punk, he wants to create indelible moments for Punk and those performers. He says it’s a great time for Punk’s arrival because the company is red hot and they can create some really exciting matchups.

While Punk named several people he’d like to work with in the future, he will first face Darby Allin at AEW All Out. Check out more highlights from “The First Dance” at this link, and find out what Punk had to say about his contract at this link.
