Report: WWE Tried To Get Mike Tyson Involved With SummerSlam

WWE wanted to try and make SummerSlam an even bigger party by trying to get Mike Tyson involved.

No, Tyson wasn’t going to wrestle or serve as a special enforcer for the event, but WWE wanted the “Baddest Man On The Planet” to do some voiceover work for the opening video package for SummerSlam.

PWInsider.com reported that WWE tried to get Tyson to narrate the video, which would focus on the Universal Championship match between Roman Reigns and John Cena, but they were unable to get him involved with the project. It’s unclear why the two sides were not able to come to terms for the project, and it was also noted that there’s no word on who might be stepping in to narrate in his place.

Tyson is no stranger to making appearances in WWE, as he was the special enforcer at WrestleMania XIV and infamously knocked out Chris Jericho on the Jan. 11, 2010 episode of Monday Night Raw. However, Tyson has recently been seen in All Elite Wrestling, once again serving as an adversary for Jericho. Despite coming to blows at the May 27, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite, the two later patched things up and Tyson became an honorary member of the Inner Circle stable.

While Mike Tyson isn’t confirmed for SummerSlam, WWE does have ten matches currently scheduled to take place at the big event. You can check out the latest updated match card at this link.
