Report: Update On CM Punk’s AEW Debut, TNT’s Reaction

It’s still unknown whether or not CM Punk will make his long-rumored return to the world of professional wrestling this week, but according to a recent report from Fightful Select, many behind the scenes at All Elite Wrestling believe it will happen.

The report noted that TNT officials are operating under the assumption that Punk will be coming to All Elite Wrestling, with both TNT and WarnerMedia “very aware” of Punk’s plans. The report went on to mention that Punk will be heavily promoted following his return, and that TNT will be using their full promotional energy on pushing the superstar.

Fightful Select also reported on the fact that several of the networks were impressed with All Elite Wrestling’s ability to run several shows in the same market in just a period of a few weeks. Throughout most of August and September, AEW is set to take over Chicago with its various shows.

Not much is known about when or if CM Punk will return, but his rumored debut is said to be during Friday’s special “The First Dance” edition of AEW Rampage, which is set to take place in the United Center in Chicago. That would then give AEW some time to begin promoting an official in-ring return during AEW’s All Out pay-per-view, which is also set to take place in Chicago in September.
