Goldberg On His Clash With Bobby Lashley: It’ll Be ‘Godzilla vs. The Geriatric King Kong’

Goldberg is back in WWE, as he recently returned to confront WWE Champion Bobby Lashley.

A WWE SummerSlam bout between Goldberg and Lashley has been rumored for several weeks now, and their on-screen confrontation all but confirmed that the match will happen.

Speaking on the CarCast, the WWE Hall of Famer shared his thoughts on his (seemingly) looming clash with Lashley. Goldberg compared the potential bout to a monster movie and made it clear that fans shouldn’t expect to see a lot of technical wrestling in the match.  He also noted that this storyline somewhat blurs the lines, as it doesn’t exactly fit the “good versus evil” model.

“I’m thinking Godzilla versus like the geriatric King Kong,” said Goldberg. “The fact is, there will not a lot of technique, not a lot of aerial moves, I would think. It’s just two big monsters doing the old-school telling the story in a wrestling ring, you know. Good versus evil.

“At this point in my career, and I keep coming back sparingly, I don’t know who’s good versus evil, I guess we’re both evil in this one. You know, hey man, the guy’s been spearing people for ten years, you know, trying to copy my move. Now the other night he does the Jackhammer on TV, and I just don’t understand why these guys make me come out of retirement to teach them a little respect.”

Goldberg also explained how he got more time to prepare for this match, compared to his other return bouts, so he feels ready for Lashley.

“This time they gave me eight weeks, so Lashley’s gonna be pissed off about that one because I’ll be doubly ready this time,” said Goldberg. “I’m actually looking forward to it, man. We’ve talked in the past, it’s been like drudgery, and I’ve been bitching and moaning all the time. And I’m still bitching and moaning, but I’ve got a smile on my face because I know that I’m more prepared than I was last time.”

Goldberg has been advertised for two upcoming appearances on WWE RAW, beginning with the August 2 episode. It’s fair to assume that he’ll officially set up his match with Lashley sooner rather than later.
