WWE’s Contract With Hulu Reportedly Set To Expire Soon

Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics is reporting that WWE’s deal with Hulu for next-day video on-demand access in the United States for RAW, SmackDown and other in-ring content is ending sometime in 2022 or possibly as early as the end of 2021 in just a few months.

It is reported that Peacock could be interested in purchasing the rights for this moving forward. Hulu has not answered a request for comment on the situation. The report from Wrestlenomics says “Next-day access for Peacock would close the wait time and add convenience & value for WWE fans. Hulu keeping it seems possible. Less likely but it’s plausible WWE would want to sell those rights to Amazon or YouTube, furthering the notion big tech wants WWE content, which might put pressure on Fox and/or NBCU to bid aggressively for U.S. live rights when those are up in a couple years.”

It should be noted that the value for owning next-day rights is a very small percentage compared to the right to broadcast an event live.
