Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari‘s WWE tenure has come to an end.
PWInsider.com is reporting both Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari were released by WWE on Friday afternoon. Nese is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and both had been appearing regularly on the company’s 205 Live brand.
Nese won a spot in the 2016 WWE Cruiserweight Classic by defeating Lince Dorado, Drew Gulak, Johnny Gargano and TJ Perkins. After being eliminated from the tournament, he made his official RAW debut in September of that year.
Daivari was also announced as one of the competitors in the CWC tournament, losing to Ho Ho Lun in the first round. He later joined the RAW roster as a Cruiserweight, losing his debut match to then-Cruiserweight Champion in October of 2016.
Nese’s final match in WWE was a loss to Ikemen Jiro on the June 15, 2021 episode of 205 Live. The two had been working together recently as a tag team, with Daivari’s final match taking place on June 8, a tag team loss (with Nese) to Ari Sterling & Asher Hale.
