EC3 On Flip Gordon: He’s Becoming Methodical And Different, Not The ‘Backflip For No Reason’ Guy

EC3 says Flip Gordon is becoming something more.

EC3 recently spoke with WrestleZone about ‘The Narrative’, which exists in the realm of wrestling but serves as more of an alternate brand. On the “traditional” side of wrestling, EC3 is busy working with Flip Gordon in Ring Of Honor. The two will meet at Best In The World in July, and EC3 spoke about how Flip has challenged him as a performer.

“I think Flip Gordon is someone who realized what he was and wants to become something more. I think a guy like Fip Gordon is going to emulate things that I have done and I see a lot of my former self in Flip Gordon,” he explained, “but I also see him come out of his shell, so to speak, becoming something more than he was. He’s not the smiling, white meat, ‘here comes a backflip for no reason’ kind of guy. He’s becoming methodical, he’s becoming well-read, he’s becoming exciting and different, he’s speaking his opinion.

“I know it gets him a lot of hate sometimes, but the fact that he goes out there and does that, I respect it. I have no qualms or questions or disagreements on that but who he’s becoming? I don’t need to challenge him, he’s looking to challenge me and I respect that,” he stated. “As I learned in my match against Jay Briscoe at Ring Of Honor’s 19th Anniversary, that honor still exists in our industry and honor is real and Ring Of Honor has honor and so, I welcome the challenge. There’s still many challenges left in Ring Of Honor, including the World Championship and now that I know the honor is real…that’s kind of my goal.”

EC3 also commented on fans coming back for Best In The World, sharing his excitement to finally work in front of fans for the first time in more than a year.

“Thank God! Do you know what it feels like to fall down and do superplexes and get dropped on your head to no reaction? It sucks…it sucks! It hurts a lot more,” he quipped, “but yes, fans will be back for Best In The World and that excites me.”
